The scientists of the Department of Information Technology, Rajalakshmi engineering college, Chennai discovered a new system for the diagnostic purpose of diseases. This system is known as ‘tongue test system’ which is a faster diagnostic tool and very useful for the people who lives in the remote places.
Dr Ramamurthy and his team has trained and produced an automated neural network which collects the information like symptoms and digitized photo of the patient’s tongue through the internet. Tongue is one of the important parts of the human body which comes under the physical examination to evaluate any disease. So, with the help of the digitized photo of the patient’s tongue and other symptoms, this automated neural system could diagnose many diseases like anemia, iron or folate deficiency , common cold, flue, bronchitis, streptococcal throat infection, sinusitis, allergies, asthma and many more.
This diagnostic tool is very beneficial for the people especially who stay in the rural or remote places in the country and are not able to rule out the causes of their health issues due to lack diagnostic facilities.
