According to research, pregnancy and vegan do not go hand-in-hand. Being vegan during your pregnancy can cause serious complications for you and your baby. The outcome of your baby’s health and the quality of the breast milk is completely depends on the nutritional status of your diet during the pregnancy. Apart from that, this can lead to some permanent health issues in pregnant women.

Vegan people do not eat animal products like milk, eggs and other derivatives which are the rich sources of Vitamin B12. On the other hand, a vegan diet is not sufficient to fulfill the need for vitamin b12. As a result, they suffer from vitamin B12 deficiency that can lead to some serious complications during the pregnancy, such as;

Michael Fenech, the scientist of Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research organization, says pointing to the Indian people that being too much vegan means going with diets without vitamin B12 which can severely influence on cognitive function and causes irreversible brain damage. He also says that vegan diet is also deprived of Omega-3 fatty acid that is very essential for your health.
